As part of the Bangkok Art Biennale 2024, Coogan presents Freude! Freude!, a live performance that embodies the spirit of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. Known for her powerful long-durational works, Coogan collaborates with Thai adults and youths with hearing disabilities, who form a silent choir under a canopy of second-hand clothes. The performance transcends language, as Coogan and the participants communicate through body language, overcoming the challenges of differing sign languages to create a moving and inclusive expression of joy and resilience.
