Threads of Gaia – Fashion as Art, Community, and Nature
Bangkok Art Biennale presents a fashion performance to mark closing of the 9th floor exhibition at BACC, showcasing Thai fashion that bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary creativity. We invited four Thai designers, whose work reflects a harmonious blend of artistry, sustainability, and heritage, to share their creations as a fitting tribute to the theme of Nurture Gaia.
These designers’ garments — vibrant and richly textured — embody a natural alignment with Nurture Gaia through their use of sustainable materials like natural fabrics, dyes, and even rubber transformed into wearable art. These designers honor traditional techniques, such as batik, passed down through generations, helping to sustain community knowledge and foster resilience.
The performance becomes a living metaphor for Gaia, reminding us that sustainable practices in art and fashion are integral to nurturing our world. Through the intricate details, natural colors, and sustainable materials, these designers create a dialogue between past and future, nature and culture, and individual creativity and collective legacy.

Threads of Gaia – แฟชั่นในมุมมองของศิลปะ ชุมชน และธรรมชาติ บางกอก อาร์ต เบียนนาเล่ ขอเชิญร่วมชมการแสดงแฟชั่นสุดพิเศษ เพื่อปิดนิทรรศการชั้น 9 ณ หอศิลปวัฒนธรรมแห่งกรุงเทพมหานคร (BACC) กับการนำเสนอแฟชั่นของคนไทยที่เชื่อมโยงระหว่างงานหัตถศิลป์แบบดั้งเดิม และความคิดสร้างสรรค์แบบร่วมสมัย โดยเราได้เชิญ 4 ดีไซเนอร์ชาวไทยที่สะท้อนงานออกแบบอันผสมผสานความงาม ความยั่งยืน และมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมเอาไว้ เพื่อร่วมถ่ายทอดผลงานที่สอดคล้องกับธีม รักษา กายา อย่างสมบูรณ์แบบ
เครื่องแต่งกายเต็มไปด้วยสีสันและรายละเอียดที่งดงาม ผสานกับวัสดุที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม เช่น ผ้าธรรมชาติ สีจากธรรมชาติ และยางพารา ที่ถูกสร้างสรรค์ให้กลายเป็นศิลปะเพื่อนำมาสวมใส่ ดีไซเนอร์เหล่านี้ยังให้ความสำคัญกับเทคนิคดั้งเดิม เช่น การทำผ้าบาติก ที่ได้รับการถ่ายทอดจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น ซึ่งช่วยรักษาภูมิปัญญาท้องถิ่นและเสริมสร้างความยั่งยืนให้กับชุมชน
การแสดงในครั้งนี้เปรียบเสมือนการถ่ายทอดเรื่องราวของไออาที่ยังมีชีวิต โดยเป็นการสะท้อนว่าแนวทางปฏิบัติที่ยั่งยืนในงานศิลปะและแฟชั่น คือหัวใจสำคัญของการดูแลโลกของเรา ผ่านรายละเอียดของความประณีต สีสันจากธรรมชาติ และวัสดุที่ยั่งยืน ดีไซเนอร์เหล่านี้ได้สร้างไดอาล็อคระหว่างอดีตและอนาคต ระหว่างธรรมชาติและวัฒนธรรม และระหว่างความคิดสร้างสรรค์ส่วนบุคคลและมรดกร่วมกันของมนุษยชาติ
