Bangkok Art Biennale has announced the theme and artists of its fourth edition, Nurture Gaia. Drawing inspiration from the figure of Mother Earth, who has historically symbolised a ‘nurturer and giver of life across cultures’, the biennale explores ideas around ecology, femininity, ecological resilience and biodiversity via the work of 45 local and international artists. Presented across nine venues (including at the ancient temples Arun, Wat Pho, and Wat Prayoon), a quarter of the works at this year’s biennale will be new and as yet unseen. Bringing Bangkok’s art scene to global attention, the biennale will host a series of symposia and performances during its opening week. Bangkok Art Biennale will open on 24 October and continue through 25 February 2025.
