Busui Ajaw is a self-taught painter whose works draw from her experiences as a woman in the contemporary world, a mother, as well as her roots as an Akha hill tribe ethnic group. Since the age of 15, Ajaw has developed an expressive painterly language to communicate both the seen and the unseen, the material and the psychological.
Born in a remote mountainous Zomia region of Myanmar to a family of shamans and artisans, Ajaw and her family were forced to flee their land and village as a young child due to a military invasion. Her practice always relates to her unique upbringing and often reflects autobiographical details with emotional depth. In some series, she depicts stories from Akha oral history and myths, traditionally, and for centuries told through songs or by village elders. By illuminating these narratives and the Akha way of life, particularly the roles of women, Ajaw's work becomes an homage to womanhood. Recently, she has expanded her practice to include wooden sculpture and installations.
Busui Ajaw lives and works in Chiang Rai, Thailand. Her notable exhibitions include Mother: Amamata (2023, nca | nichido contemporary art, Tokyo, Japan); Thailand Biennale Chiang Rai (2023); and Singapore Biennale (2020).

บู้ซือ อาจอพำนักและทำงานอยู่ที่จังหวัดเชียงราย ประเทศไทย การจัดแสดงงานในนิทรรศการครั้งสำคัญ ๆ อาทิ Mother: Amamata (เอ็นซีเอ | หอศิลป์ร่วมสมัยนิชิโดะ, โตเกียว, ญี่ปุ่น,พ.ศ. 2566) ไทยแลนด์เบียนนาเล่ (พ.ศ. 2566, เชียงราย) และสิงคโปร์เบียนนาเล่ (พ.ศ. 2563)
